Question 3 - What have you learned from your audience feedback?

At the beginning of the year the first piece of audience feedback I got was for the my summer project which I had to do individually rather than as a team.I have presented the feedback below in a pie chart.

Another piece of audience feedback I did was a questionnaire for my pitch, the results are listed below.I made the questionnaire short and straight to the point which enables my target audience to fill out my questionnaire quickly.

Useful feedback was from my media studies teacher,it was good to hear feedback about what I did well and the improvements I can make.

Below are three questionnaires,I made it visual and easy to do by asking one question and getting the audience to decide which logo they liked the best from a series of logo designs.

I asked did three interviews with members of my target audience to see what they thought about my products. This was a useful and quick method to do as it enabled my interviewees to remain anonymous and speak about my print products.

I was also able to ask my target audience about my print products through social media such as Whatsapp,Snapchat and Facebook messenger.I was able to send the same message directly to people in my target audience this was beneficial as they gave me honest and detailed feedback.

Significance of audience feedback
  • Make promotional campaign appealing to the target audience
  • The audience can say what they like and dislike (give feedback)
  • Helps to fill a gap in the market
  • Helps to focus on particular aspects which are attractive to the audience
  • If the majority of the target audience disapprove of certain elements, they should be taken out
  • If reoccurring recommendations are made by the audience, they should be incorporated
  • The audience determines whether it will be successful or not

What sort of positive feedback did you receive?
The positive feedback enabled me to see what the audience liked the most about my print products and what stood out to them. For example I added a vignette on my print products to make them look more mysterious and fit in with the action thriller genre.I have used a silhouette of the main antagonist with a thick white border round the edge to make him stand out.Luckily, the audience picked up that my products link together advertising the same film.

What sort of negative feedback did you receive?
The feedback has mainly been constructive criticism on the aspects I need to improve on to make them look even better. They were mainly to do with adding more colour as only one colour is used throughout the print products and also of the image of the two female characters weren't very clear as they were covered by the tree branches. With the trailer I had negative feedback about the soundtrack and audio, which is something I will improve by re-filming certain areas.

What would you change if you could do the project again now you have this feedback?
If I was to do this project again I would add more reviews and quotes to my print products and trailer. To help advertise the product as maybe more encouraged by positive ratings from film critiqus.

Intertitles Development

My first attempt at intertitles:
My second attempt at intertitles:

With my inter-titles I wanted them to connect to my film print products.I firstly tried white and orange text against a black background which I liked however I didn't really feel it connected with my genre 'Action Thriller'.
I then added a faded background of a skyline with trees, with a oval vignette around the outside this is because I felt that they connect more with my print products and look more dark and mysterious to the audience.

Final Trailer Development

I have changed my final trailer a lot compared to my previous draft.I have added several production credits, inter titles, reviews and film awards to link to my film products.I have added an establishing shot at the beginning with a voiceover to set the scene and genre of  my trailer.I have rearranged the shots of the trailer so they are not in chronological order to create enigma and mystery to the audience.I have also re-filmed and added new scenes to my trailer late at night to create more tension and make my trailer more like an Action Thriller.I have added clips of the villain with a knife, cleaning the knife, wrapping a dead body, holding a shovel which are small clips to add suspense to the audience.I re-filmd the kidnap scene but in the dark and added a scream sound effect to make the scene more dramatic,I added more audio to the trailer compared to my previous draft so audience don't have to rely on just the inter-titles  I also filmed a time-lapse for my title 'Target' which I green screened so the text linked to my inter-titles with a dark black background.

Teaser Trailer I have used key clips from my main trailer,I have used face paced editing to match the suspenseful music.I have used the green screen at the beginning and production details to make my trailer look realistic.I have used the same inter titles as my main trailer to make things consistent. The inter titles used are good because they also connect with my print products.

Billboard Development

For my billboard like my poster I wanted to make all my products look consistent and have a recognsiable house style. So I changed tinted the photo to a blue colour and added more text such as Actors names, film date and social media I put these in orange to make them stand out to the audience.I also changed the font of the production details to a grey colour and a condensed font so it looks more realistic,I added film logos to each corner of the film poster.

DVD Cover Development

The DVD Cover I changed the front image to match my poster and billboard so they all look similar and professional. On the back of the DVD Cover I added images to the silhouette image to give the audience more of a feel of what the film is about,I also added social media and film quotes to make my product look more realistic. Also I developed the layout for the general information of the film by placing film times, ratings and symbols in a rectangle box.

Poster Development

For my poster I changed tinted the photo to a blue colour and added more text such as Actors names, film date and social media I put these in orange to make them stand out to the audience.I also changed the font of the production details to a grey colour and a condensed font so it looks more realistic,I added film logos to each corner of the film poster.

Magazine Front Cover Development

For my magazine front cover I firstly tried to used orange and white colours as a house style to help reflect my film. However I realised that my magazine front cover should have a separate house style from my print products. So I used the colours red, white and grey to reflect give my magazine a separate house style. On the front cover my Target logo to a larger font to help it stand out to the audience,I have used the same image on the front cover to reflect my film.

Viral Marketing:

A my film Target's audience is between 15-25,I would expect them to use social media regularly. Therefore I have decided to use social media in my print products to make a viral marketing campaign. For twitter and Facebook people can go follow/share/like/retweet or Hashtag 'Target'.There is also a link to our own website www.target.com
